Beat

I slipped right through a point of view,
I slipped right through to see through you,
And all your arguments spoke eloquence –
I let your wisdom carry me.
I slip right through, I slip to you -

And your words inside me beat,
And I am free.

A shackled mouth; I’m afraid to speak.
I listened carefully to the ever-doubtful truths
This world would speak.
You questioned our reality,
Absorbing the doubts that have consumed me –

So in my heart I now am free.
Within me you will beat.

I teetered on the brink of choice
With your keen perceptions
As my own decisive voice I failed to find.
It wasn’t easy, you know
To let attachment go.

But now my love is free
And I don’t need to see you again.
Your words inside me beat,
And though I’ll never see you again
Through my veins you’ll always beat.
